Laag Fort Canning Park
Last Saturday, November 21, 2009, our family went strolling around the famed Fort Canning Park. We started our hike at Kopitiam in front of SMU. After eating lunch there, we walk uphill towards National Museum of Singapore.
We were enjoying the view and taking some photos around the museum when it started to drizzle. We decided to take shelter at there and at the same time inquire about their galleries. To our surprise, there was a Filipino exhibit entitled, "Land of the Morning Sun". Although we did not go in, but we are planning of going back there again to enjoy it. Mabuhay ka, Pinoy!
Rania, on the other hand, was busy reading some brochures. She showed us brochures of Night Safari and others with pictures of animals in it.
Soon after our break, we started trekking to Fort Canning. With the use of maps around the park, we were able navigate our way. Up, up to the hill we climb.
First stop was the Battle Box at the Fort Canning Center. There's supposed to be a guided tour but we were either too late or early for it. And so we decided not to. If we did, we would have been brought inside those tunnels inside the command center of the Fort.
Tired from climbing, we just strolled around the Fort Canning Center. There, we witnessed a Muslim banquet. People were dressed in their elegant traditional Malay attire and were eating happily while the newly-wed were busy posing in front of cameramen. We were invited to spend more time with them but we were not dress appropriately for the occasion...time to scoot...
In the slide show above, you'll find some of the areas in Fort Canning that we went in. Some of the structures were not taken at Fort Canning. They were just some scenes that you'll find around the Fort. Enjoy!
